What’s in PDT and how does it work?
The photoactive ingredient in PDT cream promotes naturally occurring Protoporphyrin IX (PPIX) production within the cells. When exposed to light therapy PPIX converts to singlet oxygen within the cell. This causes the skin cells to trigger an inflammatory cascade of reactions within the tissue, resulting in improvements in the appearance of pore size, skin tone, and skin firmness. In addition,
hyaluronic acid is combined in the formulation to maintain moisture, aiding absorption of the glycospheres and helping to prevent post treatment dryness.
