| Leg veins was my issue –
having had four children, my fairly long legs had been hidden away
for a long time in jeans and trousers. Summertime had less appeal
than usual because I was so conscious of the unsightly veins on my
right calf. I was adverse to shorts or skirts for this very reason.
One botched vein removal operation led to another in an attempt
to rectify the problem – I even paid to get it done at a well-known
private hospital in Norwich when deep-vein thrombosis was mentioned
as a possible future health hazard! I gained some improvement but
I was still left with visible thread-veins that I considered unsightly.
Being actively involved in the Wroxham & Coltishall area, I
was delighted to discover Dr Sanjay Gheyi at Coltishall Cosmetic
Clinic – and even more pleased when he said he thought he
could help me! One of my fellow local publishers gave me glowing
report of her personal experience with other treatments, making
me keener than ever to see what Dr Gheyi could do.
He explained that unsightly leg veins can be a problem for millions
of men and women, the world over. It is estimated that in many areas
over 60 percent of the adult population suffers from varicose veins,
thread veins or spider veins. Sometimes thread and spider veins
are like the tip of an iceberg but majority occur in absence of
problems with the deep veins. Often people who have had surgery
for varicose veins are left with thread and spider veins and these
can be treated very well too.
I had a consultation followed by examination of veins and a quick
ultrasound check.
I had a few sessions of sclerotherapy - micro injections of medication
into veins that destroy the vein lining and veins are subsequently
slowly absorbed by the body. It is such a fine needle that I did
not feel it al all. I had to wear stockings for 72 hrs after to
compress the treated veins.
Then I had a session of Nd-YAG laser. Pulses of laser light are
aimed on the veins and these destroy and seal the veins over time.
My treatment was carried out over a period of a few months (it depends
on the severity of your veins how many treatments are needed).
In my particular case, I was fully aware that some cosmetic treatments
such as veins can take a while to heal…and having attended
the clinic, I am happy to report great success!
I am delighted to say my lower leg is now a lot clearer and I feel
more confident again. Dr Gheyi is so professional and his calm demeanour
makes you feel completely at ease. All the staff are very welcoming
and I looked forward to my visits – seeing it as a rare bit
of ‘me time’.
The injections are virtually pain free and the Nd- YAG laser leaves
you feeling no more than a very mild stinging sensation.
These days I am able to wear skirts and dresses again and don’t
have to worry about covering my right leg up - especially when summer
arrives!
