A recent innovation in filler injections is the flexible cannula such as pix'l cannula by q-med, the makers of Restylane® and Restylane SubQ® or MN® needle. Dr Sanjay Gheyi is one of the first doctors to start using it and he is very impressed with the results. We have used needles for dermal filler injections for many years with excellent results and rare side effects but introduction of this flexible blunt cannula takes filler safety to a new level. |

| A true liquid facelift can be achieved with very
few injection points. As the cannula is blunt, there is no tearing effect
on body tissue and this minimizes the chance of bruising. Patients also
comment that they do not feel any pain. One big advantage is that patients
do not need to have any social exclusion. I have had patients go back to
work straight after the procedure.
Conventional needles used for filler injections are pointed, sharp and penetrate the tissue. This can lead to bruising and swelling in some patients. In contrast, the new Pix’L needle has a rounded blunt tip. When penetrating the tissue, it separates the natural fibre connections and thus allows virtually pain-free injection of hyaluronic acid without unpleasant side effects such as bruising and swelling. The opening is a particular feature. Unlike normal needles, it is situated on the side. This guarantees uniform flow of hyaluronic acid. In addition, needle flexibility allows very precise guidance which enables optimum treatment results.
