Intense Pulsed Light [IPL]

Intense Pulsed Light or IPL technology is a treatment breakthrough that can correct a variety of benign skin conditions, such as facial skin imperfections, the signs of photo-aging, birthmarks, unwanted hair, unsightly small veins, acne and other blemishes. It is a safe, non-invasive solution that can be tailored to your individual condition and skin type, providing superior cosmetic results and outstanding satisfaction.

IPL or Intense pulsed light is a broadband light within the visible spectrum. It is a very bright light within wavelengths of about 500 to 1200 nm. It filters out light energy below and above certain wavelenghts and delivers light in very short bursts [ in millisecond duration ]. We can use a computer to set the light energy, duration and pulses depending on desired treatment effect, your unique skin type and area of the body being treated. It does not contain harmful UV light and is a very safe, effective and established treatment for a number of conditions mentioned here.

IPL or laser

These are different technologies. Some practioners feel strongly that one is better than the other. Here is our take on the subject.-

There are different lasers for different uses. As lasers have only one wavelength they work best for one type of target. So for example you would need different lasers for fading a multicoloured tattoo.[ we don't treat tattoos!] Similarly you would need different coloured lasers for addressing red, blue and purple blood vessels and yet others for targetting brown and black pigment. Laser treatment can be painful and can have some downtime. Not so with IPL, It will target all these imperfections and is very gentle and no downtime therapy.

We have both IPL and laser technologies and our preference is for no-downtime gentle treatments. We prefer IPL for photo rejuvenation and combine it with lasers when targeting wrinkles and skin laxity.
